DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES (Part-time)

Middle & High School Students

General Description:

As an employee of First Christian Church of Burbank (FCCB), under the direction of the Pastor, the Director of Youth Ministries will develop a program of Christian education that will lead the youth of FCCB and Saegil Church (a Korean speaking DoC congregation that uses our building) in worship and encourage Christian discipleship. The Director of Youth Ministries will plan, coordinate, and implement an age-appropriate Christian discipleship program for Middle School and High School age children.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement Christian education for middle & high school age children, alongside our Sunday School Teacher

-Create activities, both virtual and in-person, for youth and fellow community in accordance to evolving Covid environment, including but not limited to: weekly youth nights, special youth activities, and small groups

-Foster spirit of social & ethical engagement

-Work with youth & families, as well as the congregation and community at large

-Mandatory attendance on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday and Christmas Eve

-Attend regular staff meetings and periodic board meetings

-Work closely with staff members and report to Pastor Brandon Johnson

 

Desired Qualifications:

Previous experience working with youth

Progressive Christian values

 

Benefits & Remuneration:

$25/hr

Two calendar weeks of paid vacation annually. A week is considered 15 weekday hours and the adjacent Sunday’s 5 hours. Leave must be scheduled in advance and approved by Pastor.

Additionally, two Sunday’s worth of paid leave may be used for illness or emergency. Notification of unplanned leave must be given to pastor, or if unavailable, the board chair. Unused leave does not accrue nor is payable upon termination.

Performance will be evaluated at six-months and annually.

 

Schedule:

Five hours on Sundays ~ 9am-2pm

Fifteen hours during week, including planning and implementing youth/community programming. Five of the weekday hours will be dedicated to Saegil needs. The programming for FCCB and Seagil will be similar, but adapted to differing age-related needs.
